Hello bloggies,
Welcome to Fashion Friday !!! (finally, I know shame, shame on me for not sticking to the schedule.) Well, it is Friday, it is fall, it is fashion week so let's begin!
First of all put away your white clothes and take out the browns because it's after Labor Day baby! Am I archaic for thinking that? Honestly, let's have a little chat about white after Labor Day. It seems like in the world people do not care about fashion as much as they used to. People wear white in the fall and those in southern states (such as Florida), completely ignore the rule! It's like the fashion world is caving in around me and I'm about to drown! Help Help Help!
Enough about whites, let's take a look at the fashion week runway for the upcoming spring fashion. After looking at several photos it is easy to determine the fashion patterns for this upcoming season. Most designers have decided to stick to solid neutral colors.
These colors that the designers focused on are your whites, blacks, beige's, and coral. The clothing line also shows more loosely fitting clothes. Baggy clothing is back in and even business attire has loosely fitting sleeves! Blouses are also featured in a more flowy way with lower cuts and bows tying the back of the blouse together.
All in all the fashion world is loosing the "edge" and becoming more comfortable. The models are not wearing an enormous amount of make-up and relies on a more natural appeal. The designers focused on having the models convey a feeling of confidence with ones' personal, natural appearance rather than relying on make up to cover up (*cue the one direction song*).
While in this post I tell you what the fashion for Spring 2014 will look like, I also want to tell you to not conform to the rules! Sure, wear loosely fitting clothes and go natural, but also wear what YOU want to wear! Don't let anyone tell you what you can and cannot wear. You are an individual! Go out there and wear what you are comfortable in!

A Moment of Silence - 9/11
There will be no pop culture post today.
This post is dedicated to the men and women who lost their lives on this tragic day 12 years ago.
We can all state our personal testaments, but this is their day. I will not go into my story.
As a native New Yorker I send my thoughts, prayers, and heart to all of those affected by the horrible attacks on our nation.
Thank You to the men and women who keep us safe every day.
I am proud to be an American.
Never Forget.

Music Monday! - Music Video Mayhem!
Hello bloggies,
To start off I would like to apologize for the lack of posting on Thursday and Friday! I was absolutely swamped with test and college craziness. On that note I would also like to share that this blog will officially start its routine this week. There will be three postings a week, Music Monday, Pop Culture Wednesday, and Fashion Friday. If I have spare time and something totally awesome happened that week in my life or in the real world I may post Tuesday or Thursday...but only if it is spectacular. Now...ON TO THE MUSIC!
Well, it seems like this week was a crazy weekend with the release of three music videos by three different artists! Last Thursday Katy Perry released the music video for "Roar", today Miley Cyrus released the music video for "Wrecking Ball", and last, but not lease, Eminem released the music video for "Berzerk".
Let's start with Katy Perry and the video for "Roar":
Okay, now honestly, I wasn't a huge fan of this song when it came out, but like all songs that are constantly played on the radio, it grew on me. The music video begins with Katy Perry and a male crash landing in the jungle surrounded by animals. Katy is at first timid and doesn't stand up for herself and allows the male to walk all over her. After the male gets attacked by a tiger, (not even kidding, you go Katy Perry, way to get rid of the guy!) Katy ventures out to survive on her own. Katy learns to adapt to the jungle and befriends a monkey and even makes a spear out of her high heel shoe! (Good thinking there girl!) The video continues with her befriending and elephant and finally befriending a tiger when she shows him that her "Roar" is louder.
Essentially, the video is about standing up for yourself and not backing down. The video shows you that you do have the power and that you can do it. The lyrics are very powerful and uplifting for the song. While, I enjoyed the video, I think it is also important to point out that Katy Perry looked flawless in this video. Now I know she is a pretty young lady, but she looked absolutely stunning in "Roar". I think that the music video was very good altogether, but out of the three I saw this weekend it would be number last on my list. Sorry Katy and the Kitty Kats, but this girl needs more than animals and swinging around in the jungle. Don't get me wrong, I love the lyrics and the VMA performance, I just believe the music video could of been done way better. Although it is number three on my list (with very heavy competition), it is still an amazing video that everyone should go check out! With that said, let's roll on to the number two spot in my music video weekend countdown.

At number two is Miley Cyrus with "Wrecking Ball" :
Miley, Miley, Miley...where to begin. Let's start at the beginning, I absolutely love the song "Wrecking Ball" and the lyrics behind the song. I know she can be crazy and out there or whatever you want to call her, but in the end I still love her. That may be because i have an attachment to her from her Hannah Montana days, or maybe from the days when she dated Nick Jonas, but whatever it may be, I still think she rocks. Sure, everyone hates the "We Can't Stop" video, but lets move on from that. "Wrecking Ball" is a completely new song and I feel like this song has more emotion than her previous releases.
"Wrecking Ball" is about love and falling too hard and coming in with force. Miley is basically saying that she never thought she would fall so hard and that whoever she fell for "wrecked her". Now with all the gossip stories and tabloids, we don't know if this is about Liam Hemsworth (her fiance, ex-fiance, fiance, whatever he currently is). But the emotion seen on her face throughout the entire video is just pain. I think that the video was very calm, which is what she needed for the song. It's a slower song and did not need the craziness she normally does in her videos. I also think that is sounds like the old Miley, not the crazy girl humping a foam finger.
Sure, there were some odd aspects of the video, but most of the video was tame. The video had many zoomed in shots of her face just singing, which I believe was very tasteful for this video. She also swung on a wrecking ball, which I mean the video is called "Wrecking Ball", what did you expect? She pounded on walls, to show her pain, and well...she licked the tool she was holding. Sure, she swung on the wrecking ball naked for a few seconds, but you couldn't see anything, so I don't see that as a reason to hate her or the video. In my opinion, it was a very tasteful video for the song and the lyrics mean more in the end. I think Miley is taking a step in the right direction and everyone should go check the video out. Now, while I absolutely love the video it is number two on my weekend list, sorry Smilers!

At number one is Eminem with "Berzerk":
Guess who's back, back again, Shady's back, tell a friend. (Yes I just did that). Eminem is back and back with vengeance! Eminem surprised many by coming back into the music industry after his drug addicting and surprised even more by dying his hair back blonde! Eminem came back with the music video "Berzerk" and appeared like he used to appear when representing his alter ego, Slim Shady. As a child growing up around Eminem music I was more than thrilled to hear the new song, hear that he dyed his hair, and then finally watch the music video this morning! I really can't tell you how excited I was. Eminem is also releasing a new studio album titled Marshall Mathers LP 2 (MMLP2).
Now onto the video, what can I say? Eminem is back!! That is literally all I keep thinking. The video starts as if you are watching a VHS (for those of you who are too young that's like a big tape before DVDs). The video continues with Eminem jumping around and rapping in front of an extremely large stereo and just having a good time. The song itself is good and if you listen to the words it makes it even better. The main concept of the song is to "say f*** it, let yourself go before you kick the bucket". Eminem is just telling his fans to go out have fun and live your life before you die. Eminem also uses a fish-eye lens in his video to give it a kind of edge to the other music videos being released. The funniest part of the video for me had to be when he called out Khloe Kardashian as "the ugly Kardashian" and says "sorry Lamar O I guess we both set the bar low". Honestly, I cracked up laughing because only Eminem would call her out and still make it sound good. Sorry Kardashian family, but it's Eminem!
Eminem is just a rap icon and his music video takes you back in the day to when rappers didn't need auto-tune or fake butt implants. Eminem is the type of rapper to rap about real life instead of drugs and alcohol 24/7. It is a must see video and everyone NEEDS to go watch it! "GO BERZERK"!!!

50 Shades of Grey Has Been Cast! (Finally)
Hello bloggies,
Welcome to my blog on pop culture Wednesday! The big news of the week? The movie 50 Shades of Grey has finally been cast! (cue the cheers of moms and young women everywhere). Now, while it is still unclear what approach the movie will be taking, the lead roles will finally have a face associated with the name! Charlie Hunnam will be playing the role of Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele will be played by Dakota Johnson. Charlie Hunnam is most known for his role in the television series Sons of Anarchy and Dakota Johnson has had some small roles in films such as 21 Jump Street, The Social Network, and The Five Year Engagement. Johnson has only held minor roles and this movie could be the start to a career as a staring actress.
The casting of the two main roles comes as a shock to many, seeing as neither were originally considered for the roles in the eyes of the media. For the role of Christian Grey many had said Ian Somerhalder (The Vampire Diaries), or Matt Boomer were highly likely to get the coveted role. Many people had also wondered if Emma Watson (Harry Potter Series, Perks of Being a Wallflower), Lucy Hale (Pretty Little Liars), Nina Dobrev (The Vampire Diaries) and even Jennifer Lawrence (The Hunger Games) were going to play Anastasia Steele.
While Hunnam and Johnson will no doubt make a great film, it seems as if the decision was made on the fly. The two had never even been discussed as candidates for the role in the media! With the casting of Hunnam and Johnson comes controversy to those who adored the book as well. Petitions have already started and are being circulated around social media sites such as Twitter and Facebook. With news to the petitioning the producer and director have gone on to state their confidence in the two. Let's face it, they wouldn't have been chosen if the director didn't have full faith in their abilities to fully portray the role. Honestly, a well known, A-list actor/actress would not have been cast anyway. The book is provocative and most celebrities do not want to put themselves in the situation. After all, no one has any idea how the movie will be shot (R rated or otherwise).
The casting of the two roles brings about another topic...the release date! The film is set to release August 1, 2014. With a release date in site many are anxious to see the book be brought to light. While the book has received many negative views, it has also received and immense fanbase and support. The book has also paved the way for more literature in this genre to become more appropriate in certain age groups as well. Although many critiques simply trash the book and call it "mommy porn", there is a story line in there as well (yes, there is, dig deep enough). Anastasia falls deeply in love with Christian, a man who doesn't know how to just love someone. Christian was brought up by his foster parents after an abusive start to life and that lifestyle carried over to his adulthood, especially with the help of his former relationship with the "evil" Mrs. Robinson. Anastasia and Christian fight with each other, hate each other, but in a weird twisted way are still drawn to each others' sides like flies to a piece of sweet fruit.
In the end, it is up to the director and on August 1st we will see if the roles were correctly portrayed. But for now, read the book, enjoy the world, and get excited for 50 Shades of Grey!

Back To School...More Like Can I Go Back To Bed!
Hello bloggies,
Well as we all know with the end of Labor Day weekend, school starts up again. Now while you guys complain and are sad that today is your first day of school, let me just give you a little piece of advice...I've been in school for THREE WEEKS already! Yup, I've been in classes with homework and exams and don't even start about how I actually have to socialize with people who aren't online. Not to mention, even though I'm in college (university for those of you not in America), I have a group project in three out of my four classes! But okay, enough about me.
Whether it's your first day of freshman year or your first day of senior year, the start to high school is rough. It's like a baby bear coming out after a long winter hibernation, we yawn and groin and get angry at our parents when our 6 a.m. alarm goes off. The idea of interacting with other humans petrifies most of us. Plus, not to mention we have to leave our twitters and tumblrs behind for the day *gasps*. The advice I want to give to high school students is: enjoy it. Honestly high school may seem like torture and the worst four years but when you get to college it's not any better. The only difference is that in college you are responsible for your work, what you eat, when you do things, and let me tell you it isn't a bed a roses. High school is your time to shine and have fun! Join activities, clubs or after school sports to find people with common interests. If you want to enjoy your high school experience, I'm sorry, but you will have to make friends and be a social little butterfly. If you are entering your junior year my advice is to focus on school, this is your most important year. Junior year is the year colleges look at when they determine if they will be accepting you for the fall semester. Don't start to slack just because you see the light at the end of the tunnel! And seniors, avoid "senioritis". Senioritis is when you guys start to slack off on your homework and your grades plummet. Avoid this! Colleges can take back your acceptances if your senior grades fall below their criteria. Don't lose your acceptance because you decided you were done with homework before you graduated. But in the end of the day, have fun, make friends and remember high school isn't a shark tank and you will make it out alive!
If you are entering your first year of college my advice to you is: have fun. Your first year is when you can have fun, experience everything and make friends. Go out and join a club, go to the campus pool, go to school sponsored events, even go dancing! You want to be able to leave college and say, "I had the best time of my life." Don't have any regrets, it's our time to be young and stupid and sure we are going to make mistakes, but that is how we learn. Don't stay in on a Saturday night when you could go hang out with friends, just live your life and have fun, that is what college is all about! But, while you are having fun, don't forget the reason you are there...to learn. While I tell you to go out and have fun and live your life, don't forget your school work. Many freshman in college seem to have trouble balancing their workload with their time out and in the end start off college with a poor GPA and some even end up on academic probation. Don't be that kid on academic probation. Enjoy your time but also learn to balance it with your course load.
Procrastination at any level of learning is an awful habit. Learn to overcome it by telling yourself that, "if I do this as soon as I get home, then I can get/go ____". By rewarding yourself you are giving yourself positive incentives to do the tasks at hand. Once procrastination starts its hard to end. In the high school years it may not be so bad, but if those habits carry over to college you will be swimming in work and trying not to drown. Get your work done early so you have more time to have fun and so you don't get stressed when due dates are approaching!
While I can't offer advice to older college student's I can say that college is a time to have fun, experience things, and figure out what you want to be. In high school they make you decide what you want to be for the rest of your entire life. Now, when I graduated high school I was only 17 and I couldn't decide what I wanted to do at all. Don't worry, you will figure it out. In the meantime think positive, have fun, and have an awesome school year!

Music Time - The 1975
Hello bloggies,
Well, here it is, my first post about something actually important instead of myself. Okay, so today I wanted to share with you a band I found a few months ago. First let me tell you how I found the band: I was on my iTunes account checking out the charts when I found this little section titled "Free Single of the Week". Okay, now being a college student I saw the word "free" and instantly jumped on it! That weeks single of the week was called "Chocolate" by The 1975.
When I saw the title, I'm not going to lie I was pretty psyched, I mean who doesn't love chocolate? And yes, the image that ran through my brain was the episode of Spongebob where they had to sell candy bars! After I downloaded the song I came to realize it was most definitely NOT about chocolate! The song in fact turned out to be somber, about never quitting, and of course about drugs.
This English alternative rock/indie band has started to make a name for themselves in their home country. Based in Manchester, this band has taken the world by a storm! Two of their three videos were even shot in black and white showing the struggle portrayed in the lyrics of the songs. "Chocolate" and "The City" portray the world in black and white, while conveying their message about abandonment and drug use. Their third video for the song "Sex" is shot in color, which I believe is due to the "cheerful" world they are trying to show. The world where adolescents are just having fun and living their lives.
While some songs have a slower beat, there are some faster paced, but I think what gives this band the edge is the unique voice of the front man, Matthew Healy. The public always tunes into bands or groups that have a unique voice, take for example Maroon 5 with Adam Levine. Now, I'm not comparing the two, but I'm saying that both singers have a voice unlike those in the business. Front vocalist Matt is joined by guitarist Adam Hann, drummer George Daniel, and bassist Ross MacDonald.
The 1975 has three EPs currently out, "Sex EP", "Music For Cars EP", and "IV EP". As well as these EPs the band has an album currently making its way into the charts. The bands self-entitled debut album, "The 1975", comes out today (September 2nd) in the UK and has already gotten raving reviews. The album will be available in America on September 3rd. The first single off of this album is titled "Girls" and has already received massive airtime on UK radio waves. With a new album comes a tour and they will not only be playing in England! The band will head out to America to play a few shows, as well as much of Europe. To find exact dates and tickets you can visit www.the1975.com/tour .
This band is on the rise and I suggest you all check them out. Also, don't forget to check them out on twitter at @the1975 . I love their sound and hope for them to eventually make it to my area!

Welcome Everyone!
Hi Everyone!!
Welcome to my little old blog. I'm starting this to share my interest, passions, and random thoughts. I figured I might as well do something constructive in my spare time! I always find random music or cute accessories and thought, "hey a blog would be the perfect place to share my thoughts!" After friends encouraging me, I finally sat down and created the blog you now see before you.
On this blog I will share music, my reviews on some pop culture events, and fashion. I believe everyone needs some positive outlet and this is mine. I love writing and music and this is the perfect combination of the two. What could go wrong?
And before we begin, why don't I share with you a little information about me. Well, like the title says, I'm just your average girl! I'm 18 and a student at university studying legal studies. Yes, I'm a legal studies major and still find time to delve into the world of fashion and music! Hey, I need something to keep me sane after reading textbooks and cases for hours! I am originally from New York, but moved with my family when I was 14. After moving to Florida my parents divorced (and are still in the process of becoming divorced) when I was 16 and a half. Of course this came as a shock to me and my younger siblings. I have a younger brother and sister that I absolutely adore (when we aren't fighting with each other). Along with my two siblings I have a female, 10 year old Golden Retriever named Jeter (if you can't tell we are huge New York Yankee fans).
One year ago I started college and moved three hours away from my family. This was quite hard at first seeing as I come from a tightly knit Italian household and I am used to constant talking and shouting. Dormitory life is quiet and was odd compared to what I was used to, but now I absolutely love it! Of course moving away from home and meeting new people is challenging, but in the end it makes you a better person. I've had my fair share of roommate problems, but that is all in the past and I am now rooming with one of my closest friends!
This is my second year and I can't wait to share my experiences with you guys and share my interest. I have a habit of running into celebrities and hope that it will happen again this year so I can share my experiences. I hope you end up liking this blog and eventually following it!
